It’s so difficult to gain the trust of someone, yet it’s so easy to lose it. Trust has been a major concern for couples these days. It is one of the foundations of a steady and healthy relationship. Once this foundation starts to break and fall apart, then such relationship would be very risky and expect that it won't be long that conflicts will heightened and it will be intricate to resolve these conflicts. I even have my own share of issues with regards to trust. It's tiring, agonizing, exhausting and frustrating that someone has lost his/her trust on you, even if you haven’t done anything for such loss to happen. Like in the story, Pedro and Soledad were living together harmoniously, not until Soledad knew what the other key was for. She didn’t think wisely on how she should react to what she discovered.
Keeping something means giving value to that certain material or the one associated with that object or material. I could understand why Pedro kept the things of her first wife who died. There is nothing wrong with what he did. We must understand losing someone, especially those whom you love so much, is a very painful experience. The problem then was that Soledad was afraid that her husband still loves his first wife and that she let jealousy starts to swirl around their relationship. This is why communication must exist. There should be an open communication between couples to easily fix or resolve issues and be able to recognize the thoughts, needs and concerns of their partners. What Soledad did was not to ask his husband about what she discovered. Instead, she kept it on to herself and tried to take the negative thoughts without talking about it with her husband. As she continues to take the worries solely, she wasn’t able to stop herself and she burned the clothes of Pedro’s first wife. Is her action acceptable? Or should we say that what she did was understandable? For me, we can’t just say that we understand her because of what she felt. The best that she could have done was to ask her husband and talk about it. Pedro, as expected, was angry of what Soledad did. In the first place, he could have told Soledad earlier about those clothes of her first wife. It’s very complex to keep or hide something from your partner. Time will come that secrets will be revealed and expect the possible outcomes of such revelations.
Trust is a very crucial ingredient of every good relationship. It’s never a right choice to solve a problem alone when it must be dealt together with your partner. We only have enough time to fix our personal problems, but once we’ve gone beyond the time limit, it will all be regrets and there’s nothing else we can do to change it. We must treasure or value the trust given to us by other people, especially by those who are dear to us. Life isn’t complete without trust. One must have trust in his partner, in his family and in God. In reality, it’s not just about the idea of trust. If you trust someone, you must show it and be appreciated for the trust you gave to that person.
